Why isn’t there a price on this website?
Because two jobs that sound the same rarely are. What’s inside the wall, the distance to the panel and the permit change it. What we can tell you right away is how many hours it usually takes. The price comes in writing after we see the job or your photos.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. MB Electric Solutions Inc. holds California contractor license #1159199 and is insured. You can look the license up at the CSLB license check.
Do I need a permit to upgrade my electrical panel in Los Angeles?
Yes. In the City of Los Angeles a panel change needs an electrical permit from LADBS and an inspection, and LADWP has to release the service. The contractor pulls the permit. Other cities, such as Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena and Santa Monica, have their own building departments.
Can a handyman do electrical work in California?
Only small jobs. Since January 1, 2025 the exemption covers work under $1,000 in total, and only if the job needs no permit and the person has no employees. Most electrical work needs a permit, so it takes a licensed contractor.
What counts as an electrical emergency?
Sparks, a burning smell, outlets or switches that are hot or discolored, a tingle when you touch an appliance, or a breaker that trips again and again. With smoke or flame, call 911 first. What to do in an electrical emergency.
